He ventured with these groups to El Porvenir Christian Camp in New Mexico, the Believe Christian Youth Conference in Oklahoma and Texas, Mount Rushmore, Sea Base in Florida, and Canoe Base in Minnesota.ĭave enjoyed going on ski trips, to the fishery in New Mexico, and to Knotts Berry Farm, all with his son. He volunteered in Boy Scouts, Paramount Terrace Christian Church Youth Groups, and Hillside Christian Church Youth Groups.

Dave was always active in his son’s activities. He enjoyed working at the VA because he wanted to do the most he could for his fellow veterans, which he called a cause.ĭave and Debra raised their son, Trevor, in Amarillo, TX. He was still working at the VA upon his death. Dave attended Amarillo College and became a certified occupational therapy assistant. Dave met his wife, Debra, there and they moved to Amarillo, TX to be closer to her aging parents. He started school in Phoenix, AZ and began working in the Physical Rehabilitation Department at the Carl T. After returning to Arizona, he trimmed palm trees, jumping from tree to tree, and transplanted saguaro cacti and palm trees. He was fortunate to return cars to celebrity homes, i.e., Walter Matthau. He was a specialized welder in a cannery and RV production facility and a European Auto Mechanic in Monterey Bay also. He was a Forest Firefighter in Northern California, often getting animals from the fire to the communes. While in the service, he was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal.Īfter returning to the states, he spent time in California, Louisiana, and Arizona. He was a proud lifetime member of the VFW.

He received the National Defense Service medal and became a sharpshooter in rifles, an M 16. He was stationed in Germany and Korea during the Vietnam War, twice. He has been a resident of Amarillo, TX for twenty-nine years.ĭave was a proud soldier of the United States Army for six years, going into the reserves upon returning to the United States.
